January 28, 2006 at 8:00 pm: The Hygienic XXVII Annual Exhibition will be presented at The Hygienic Art Galleries & Art Park, 79 Bank Street, New London, CT. Touted as New London’s only winter tourist attraction and notorious free-for-all arts festival, the main art event “Salon des Independants” celebrates it’s 27th year. The show has grown into a multi-media art extravaganza including film, theatre, poetry, music, performance art and an exhibition of work by young artists. All artists are welcome to submit one piece for exhibition, no judge, no jury, no fee, no censorship. Hanging begins on Sat. at the Hygienic Art Galleries, 79 Bank Street, New London, CT at 9:00 am till 6:00 pm.

January 27, 2006 at 8:00 pm: a new “Art Rock Party” will debut at The Dew Art Gallery, 300 State Street, New London, CT to celebrate the opening of Hygienic XXVII.

February 11, 2006 at 8:00 -10:00 pm: “Lovin’ New London”, a Valentine’s Dessert Extravaganza and fundraiser will be in the New London Market building at 13 Washington Street. $18.00 pr person in advance/$20.00 at the door. This fourth annual Valentine’s party will showcase fabulous food and drink donated by local establishments, a great way to close out this years two week celebration. Get a first look at New London’s newest exciting addition, support downtown restaurants by having dinner at local eateries and bring your receipt to the party for a special drawing! This cavernous space will be present cabaret and jazz, Latino tango, troubadour music, a fine art & romantic gift auction, and lover’s getaway drawing will complete the evening. Proceeds will mostly go to the Art Park with a portion to benefit New London Main Street’s downtown revitalization initiatives.
