HYGIENIC XXV
The organizational first meeting for Hygienic Art XXV will be held at the
Dutch Tavern, 23 Green Street New London on Tuesday, November 4 at 7pm. Starting Nov 4 there will be biweekly meetings (every other Tuesday) until the show opening on Saturday, January 31, 2004.
This year marks the 25th year of the art exhibition. Modeled after the
Salon des Independants Movement in Paris during the early 20th century, the
exhibition is touted as New London's only winter tourist attraction and is
notorious for its’ anything goes policy of no judge, no jury no fees, and no
censorship. One piece per artist, all are welcome.
Artists and volunteers will be needed to help organize and execute events
during the opening weekend including the Hygienic Cabaret, new works by
playwrights, poets, dancers and performers, The Screening Room, new films and
shorts by area filmmakers and Hygienic Young Artists XV, like the main exhibition
but for kids and hands on art making. The Hygienic Mosaic, Hygienic Arts XXV's
coffee table literary assemblage will also be included in discussion.
